Hear The Kills Cover Marilyn Monroe - “One Silver Dollar”

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince followed up their last radio session cover song premiere (a medley of two reggae songs) on Australia’s Triple J today by reviving Marilyn Monroe’s 1954 film serenade to a cowboy-filled bar, “One Silver Dollar.” While the song, which was written by Ken Darby and Lionel Newman for the 1954 western River of No Return, stays true to the original’s solo acoustic-backed arrangement, Mosshart seamlessly injects a bit more sultriness into the simple folk number.
